Some of the Greatest Live Vocals Ever.
Tommy Castro And The Painkillers is a tremendous live singer, and all of her songs were performed beautifully. Her band was perfect and the lights and pyro were amazing. With all that being said, there are many moments where Tommy Castro And The Painkillers can not be seen from the other side of the stage, and unfortunately the Pan American Center lacks video screens with the only screens being the four that came with her stage setup, that couldn't be seen from the floor. While I'm all for hearing great songs at a concert and Tommy Castro And The Painkillers performs each perfectly, her performance does feel incredibly streamlined. The show opened up with opening performances from The Swon Brothers and Easton Corbin. Corbin was kind of business as usual, which didn't make him as likable. The stage setup for Las Cruces' Pan American Center was smaller than the rest of her shows due the facilities smaller floor, so two of the side walkways were cut short, but still an awesome stage show regardless. Tommy Castro And The Painkillers tried to squeeze in as many songs as she could into her performance, which was impressive but it also made the concert seem shorter than it was, which did cause a slight problem. The Swon Brothers, in my opinion were the better of the two acts, with great vocals and a lot of interacting with the crowd. It's also kind of a turn off because he had more time on stage than Swon Brothers did. However, I did love his little retro spot in the show with small snippets from Michael Jackson's Beat It, Metallica's Enter Sandman and TLC's Waterfalls. Having been to many different types of concerts in my life for different artist in different genres, it's easy for me not to give this a 5 star rating like so many others but I will say that it was a splendid show and Tommy Castro And The Painkillers has one of the greatest live voices I've ever heard from a singer, sounding almost identical to her albums. I won't lie, my wife and I got tickets to see the show for her birthday, which was on the same day as the concert. The show for fans and even those who aren't big fans will still find something to like about this show.Overall, a great show.
